Etsy Shop!

Today I ventured into the great and wonderful world of etsy and started my own etsy shop which you can view here. It's still in the very early stages but you should check it out! It will soon have some knitted items as well as more screen printed designs, ceramics, and photography! How exciting! I'm so excited about it!! I hope you are too!

School has been going really well. I have been thinking a lot about changing my major from photography to fibers because I really love the tangible aspects of it and everything I think of doing with art keeps wandering to fibers so I think it may be a better fit. I'm not 100% what I'm going to do as of now. I'm going to speak with the head of fibers tomorrow during lunch to get some more information on the department and also to see if I could transfer over as a junior and not a sophomore. So we shall see. I'll keep you all updated :)

As far as classes go my intermediate photo class is going really well. Just finished my dream series which I am very happy about. With my collage class I am at a loss. I can't ever figure out what I want to do. I feel like as soon as I start thinking about collage's I get a block. No good! I'm sure it will come to me :) My knitting class is going really well. I made the back of my first sweater and it looks great....except for the 2 holes, but that's ok haha. I'm also working on a scarf that I can hopefully sell on my etsy shop :) Hurray!!

Also when I say my etsy shop I really mean my husband and my etsy shop because AskRobske is a collaborative effort which I love!!

I hope everyone's week has been going great! Thank you so much for reading today!

Family Photos

This weekend I got the opportunity to take photos of my pastor and his family. They turned out so great!! I was really nervous about it because I was using new equipment and I've never taken family photos before but with a little researching and a little creativity I think I did their family justice. Such a great family and super cute to photograph! I'll go ahead and post a few of the photos so you can see for yourself.

Start off with a goofy one! Always the best

I love her headband! And look at that smile

Some Family photos

A few with new baby and his Dad

I have a lot more that I haven't edited yet. Once I'm done with them I will post a few of my favorites.

On another photography note I will be posting my Dream series on an upcoming blog. I'm really proud of it and really like the way it turned out.

Now a side note on knitting. I found a machine that I love and that works for me (for the most part) and I made that back to my sweater. It has a few holes in it...but you've got to start somewhere.

I really love where my art is moving. I love taking family photos and would also love to start taking head shots and wedding photos as well so if you're interested let me know and I will give you an EXCELLENT deal :)

I'm thankful that I had the opportunity to work with my Pastor and his family because they were super wonderful and patient. A great jumping off point. You will see more in the future with both commercial photography and fine art photography. So get excited...because I am!

Thanks everyone for reading and have a great week!

Knitting Swatches

I've been working really hard in school and had to make 10 swatches on the knitting machine. I love love love the knitting machine but it doesn't love me back sometimes. It's very fickle and frustrating but I still love it :) Most of my swatches are fairisle (as seen below) which just means there are 2 different colors that make patterns. They are my favorite, I'm sure you can see why :)

I also did 4 tuck stitches which just kind of make a texture in the yarn and there is 1 lace. I LOVE the lace, it's so girly but I was having a lot of issues with it. That's why there is only one.

I took a photo of the process because before I took this class I didn't even know machines like this existed! They are wonderful once you get them going.

We're starting to draft our own designs now and I think I'm going to start with a sweater. I will post my progress so all you lovely readers can see what I'm doing.

I'm also working really hard on my photography project on Dreams. It is due next week so I will post the final project once I finish and hopefully you'll let me know what you think :) I love feed back!!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and thanks so much for reading :)

School is taking over my life!

School is pretty crazy right now. I'm going full force with my series on the displacement of dreams and I love it! It's the first series that I'm really liking the results, as of lately at least. My collage class is slowly building up speed. It's hard for me to get into collage because I'm not a huge fan of it but it's coming along. My knitting class is ammmmmazing! I love every second of it. It's very frustrating at times but once I get it I love it! Hopefully I can invest in one of those fancy knitting machines after the class ends. Let's hope!

In other news this weekend I'm going to take family photos of my pastor and his wife. They just had a baby and want to take photos of the new addition and also of their family. I'm hoping to take some really nice photos of the new baby with his big sister. I'm really excited about it! I've checked out some strobe's from the school media center and will be playing around with them tonight so I can be comfortable with them when I take their photo's this weekend. I'm super excited! I'll post some of the photos on here to show you what I can do just in case you are looking to have some family photos done :)

I hope all you wonderful blog readers have a great week! Stay warm!

Being Neglectful

I'm so sorry I have neglected my poor blog. It has be quite a crazy week. Everything in the art world for me is going wrong this week. The computers in the lab are not working for me they won't let me open any of my photos so I can't print anything. I don't have any clue of what I'm going to do in my collage class, mainly because I don't really like collage work but it's a mandatory class so I'm stuck. I think once I get in the groove of things it will be better. I tried knitting again on the machine for 2 hours and I got absolutely nothing. It just wasn't working. So I have to re-tackle everything today. Hopefully I can get some stuff done.

I still have to take the photos of the shirts I made so all my lovely readers can see the new project I started. Hopefully I can make a ton more. We shall see. So I'm back on my way to school. Thanks for reading :)
