Sunday

Today I feel that I was very productive. After a wonderful church service Rob (my husband) and I went to run errands and when we got home I got to stencil making! I made one new stencil and already had one I made and I made 2 shirts. I'm really excited about it! I will be posting pictures very soon and they will be for sale :)

Also on Friday my amazing husband surprised me with chocolates and flowers. My favorite kind of flowers to be exact...sunflowers!

Aren't they fantastic?? I feel so blessed to have him in my life. He fully supports all my crazy ideas. I can't wait to show everyone the shirts I've made. I'm quite proud of them :)

Thanks for reading and I hope everyone had a great weekend and will continue to have a great week!

The weekend

Friday I had my first knitwear class and it was amazing! I learned how to knit on the machine and use punch cards and make designs. It is fantastic! I will soon post all my projects on my blog so all you lovely people can see my progress! I also worked on my photo project and printed some photos.

I've decided the theme of my photo project and some of my fiber projects will be the displacement of dreams. I got this idea because I have slept walked and slept talked on many occasions and all these occasions I was aware of my surroundings but I thought I was still in my dreams. So I decided that there is so much that I can explore with this idea and I have some great ideas.

I'm really excited about this semester!

Second Day of Class

Right now I'm in the lab at my school working on some photos. I have a few ideas but today I just went and took pictures and I think it did me some good. I feel that I have so many ideas and I never execute as many as I want to. I took most of these photos in Union Station. That train station is amazing. These would be shown together as a triptych. Let me know what you think. Be brutally honest. I hope you enjoy :)

First day of school

Today was my first day back to school after the long Christmas break. It was excellent. There was a new student in my Intermidiate Photo class and also some old friends. I had my first Photo art history class called "Off the beaten path" it sounds pretty wonderful. It's an art history class about photography that is not considered "fine art". For example we will be studying snap shot photos, wedding and family portraits, Polaroids, Photo booth photos, and things like that. The teacher seems great and a lot of my friends are in that class so I think it will be a wonderful learning experience. My husband is really excited because he finally gets to use the wheel in ceramics. He is wonderful at what he does and is so extremely talented. I have many ideas of what I want to focus on this semester and I will keep my wonderful audience (that's you guys) updated on all my endeavors. I hope you're as excited as I am!! Tomorrow will be my collage class and lots of errands to run yikes!

I will leave my wonderful viewers with an entertaining picture of me and my husband...enjoy!

Doggy Party

My friend Kate is staying with us for a little bit because she is in between apartments and she brought her dog Einstein. Now Calvin has a friend and they are both oh so cute! I gave my little Calvin a bath today so now he looks super handsome. Just check out the cuteness I'm surrounded by!

This is my little Calvin. He's kind of a mess we need to get him groomed, but cute none the less:

This is the cuteness called Einstein:

School starts on Monday and I am very excited to start up again. I'm most excited about my Fashion Knitwear Class. I will be knitting on a fancy machine and making lots of clothes (hopefully). I'm kind of nervous. I hope that I'm not behind in the class because I know how to knit but I didn't take the beginners course so I'm not sure if I have covered all of what everyone else knows but I'm sure I'll be fine. I will definitely be posting photos of my knit work and also the photos I will be working on in my photo classes. This is what my class schedule looks like:

Intermediate Photo
Photo Collage
Fashion Knitwear
Photo Art History

I just hope I can continue my ideas of making screen print shirts and clothing. I plan on starting up sewing. My friend Kate will be re-teaching me the sewing machine because last time I used a sewing machine I was probably 10 years old. So it's been quite a while.

Right now I'm watching "Knit and Crochet Today" which sounds really lame but is actually really wonderful. They are teaching me how to knit cables. Get excited! I'm working on a hooded scarf for rob. It's taking a lot longer than I wanted it to but what can you do.

Speaking of knitting I took a photo of one of the hats I made. I made 2 more but didn't get a chance to take photos of them before I gave them away as gifts. I hope you enjoy:

Don't mind my hair it was not looking so cute that day!

Well I have to go clean up the house...wish me luck!

More of my photos

As promised I give you more of my photos. I really wanted to take photos of people who had made their own clothes and also those who wanted to just have a modeling session. I love working with lighting and people and I had a great time taking all these people's photos. I hope you enjoy as well!!

The first 3 are of a lovely girl named Maret who designed this dress with her friend Pedro. She is really into everything fashion and is a great model. She is a fibers major at the school I attend. Very easy to work with and really knew how to work the camera.

The next photos are of a fibers major named Katie. She made this Victorian style dress and wanted to model it. The dress is amazing and she was a great model!

The next 2 are of a freshman at the school I attend. She really wanted to expand her portfolio as a model. She was a great model to work with and she was all about experimenting with different styles and movements.

I really enjoyed working in a studio setting and will continue this in the future. I want to start doing weddings as well and I have a friend who is willing to let me be her second shooter at a wedding she is doing in the future. I really want to be a second shooter to build my portfolio and get a little more comfortable in a wedding environment. My friend's name is Jordan and she goes to school with me and is a wonderful photographer! You can check out her work here on her website.

Thanks for reading. Share with your friends if you enjoy!!

Oh today

So today we spoke with a social worker at our doctors office and I believe we have come upon something great. We should be getting free diabetes supplies for at least the next year so I am so very thankful for that.

On to my crazy ideas. I want to start doing wedding photography as well as portraits and engagement shoots. I'm looking into how to start up my own photography business. Also I plan on buying the few materials I need to start screen printing so I will be posting some of those shirts I make very very soon. Keep your eyes open.

I have to admit I am very excited to get out of school and to start a family. I've been looking online at how to adopt and I just want to adopt them all. I really want a big family. I want to have my own kids but I also want to be a foster parent and hopefully be able to adopt my foster children. I feel like my ideas are going a million miles per hour. There are so many things I want to do. I just have to take it one step at a time.

Hopefully I can make great screen print shirts and also start up my Photo business. I think I've just been so nervous about starting up my own photography business because I don't want to mess up, but I know what I'm doing and I know I'll do a great job. So if anyone's interested in a photographer I'm your gal. I'll soon post some of my recent photos that I did in the studio.

Thanks for reading

My art....like I promised

I've finally decided to stop procrastinating and put up my work. Below is a series I am still in the process of working on called "Rapture". Take from it what you want and I hope you enjoy :) I'll continue to post my work as school continues and I become a little more inspired.

PS- My husband and I need to get our own place. We have roommates because we needed to save up money but now we realized since we are married we definitely need our own place. We'll probably have to wait until after the summer because that's when our lease is up and also when we will get back from camp.

Enjoy the photos

On to today. Today was awful. My husband and I went to the medical center that offers financial aid for those who don't have insurance because my husband has diabetes and needs insulin. Well we have to wait until we get a letter in the mail and then go back there in about 7-10 days to see if we are eligible. We still needed insulin so they suggested going to the diabetes center upstairs to see if we could get insulin but when we went up there the lady looked at me like I was crazy when I asked how we would go about getting insulin. She said we had to be referred there and they are taking appointments about 6 months out and we would need to be referred to them through our primary care physician. Another option is going to the hospital but we've been to the hospital for the same reason 4 times since we've lived here (we've only lived here for 3 months...just sayin) and they won't give us a prescription they just say go to your primary care physician and even if they did give us the prescription we still couldn't afford it because it costs about $130 a month and we can't get an appointment with a primary care physician because we don't have insurance.

So here we are in this awful circle and all we need is insulin. It's not like we're asking for some sort of pain medicine or anything. So we're going to try and get an appointment with his old doctor and see if they'll take us or with the free clinic. Needless to say today was not a fun day. I'm not going to give up and I'm sure I'll figure everything out.

Once I get a little money I'll start some sewing ideas I've had but for now I'll try and figure things out.

Sorry for the bummer blog. Things will get better I'm for sure.

Buy some books they are all in great condition!

Day 2

Well today I had big plans of putting the photos I worked on last semester on my blog but I had to go mail out some books I sold, put money in the bank, and pick up my wonderful husband from work. So unfortunately I probably won't be able to get to it today. Super lame. I am about to go see Book of Eli with my good friend Kate and my lovely husband Rob. I'm not too sure what it's about but I guess I'll find out soon. I'll try and post my photos tonight or tomorrow morning and also post my work in progress hooded scarf that I'm making for Rob. Until next time...

First Blog ever

Ok so this is my first blog but hopefully not my last. I plan on learning how to make as many creative things as possible. I have been inspired by several bloggers like Ruffles and Stuff, My mama made it, and lil blue boo to name a few and I really enjoy everything that they do.

I am attending school right now to become a photographer and will be posting a lot of my photography, because I never seem to post my art for the world to see. I like to make art that has a purpose and is connected to people because people are my motivation for a lot of the work I do. I'm also going to try and minor in fibers because I really want to learn how to make garments for myself, my husband and hopefully for a living as well.

I have a ton of ideas of what I want to do and as you can tell my blogspot name is AskRobske and hopefully that will be the name of my brand one day, if I ever get lucky enough to make original garments. I plan on starting an etsy shop and have recently found a website that shows you how to screen print with cheap materials so hopefully that will kick start my etsy shop.

I know I have a lot on my plate and I'm really excited to start making things. First thing I must do is fix my sewing machine. My mom gave me her old sewing machine and I don't believe it works correctly.

Right now I love the options I have and I'm really excited to see where this takes me and hopefully my readers (once I get some readers) will enjoy my journey too.
